Dear brothers and sisters,

In a nutshell I have given the historical background about

our Devendrakula Velalar community, which was betrayed and made farm labourers

who were once the landlords and rulers of Tamilnadu. The sheer irony of fate that the

sucessive invaders of Tamilnadu after 14th century continued to treat our people

as slaves and as elsewhere in the world during those days, our people were also

trapped in poverty and made us untouchables with the help of religious despotism

and a hidden agenda.

If we want to regain the glory of the past it is very

important that we should make our children to get higher education atleast

on par with other communities. The responsiibility of the youth and the

people who are supposed to be the creamy layer of this community

is immense in this score in creating awareness of education and to have a

consensus to have a common caste name as DEVENDRAKULA VELALAR instead

of names as pallars.

We have already suubmitted a memorandum signed

by about 4000 students and their parents before the Hon'ble Chief Minister

and we have not heard anything from him. The crux of our represenation

was to call us as DEVENDRAKULA VELALARS and the ADI DRAVIDAR

WELFARE DEPARTMENT should be changed as DEPARTMENT OF

OPPRESSED COMMUNITY ie THAALTHAPATTOR NALA THURAI like the

DEPARTMENT OF BACKWARD COMMUNITY.

We have a plan to emphasise the demand during

INDIRAVIZHA 2010 on 26th December 2010 at SNR COLLEGE AUDITORIUM

and we expect about 2000 students and parents will assemble for a day long

programmes. Apart from that we would like to conduct a meeting and a rally

witha strenth of about 5000 persons hailing from the 21 places of our branches

in and around Coimbatore either in the month of November or January 2011.

We expect your suggestions and support to conduct the meeting

pressing the Govt to issue G.O. calling us as DEVENDRAKULA VELALARS and

make our children to have self confidence and requesting CM to call Veeran

Sundralingam as above and should not call him as ADIDRAVIDAR whenever

occasion comes to him to refer that jewel of DEVENDRKULA VELALARS.

The responsibility of the youth is great and please come

out of the fetters and raise your voice for justice. The following text

published in DINAMALAR itself is self explanatory to understand how our

hearts and minds are wounded by such invisible weapons degrading our

community. When everybody is being called in their honrific caste names

it is not parochial and if we do not claim our rights then only we will be

losers.

Please write to us and this is being headed by the

Kasimyndhan a retired Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes

successfully for the 12th year and guiding thousands of school and

college going students spending lakhs of rupees for their quality education

so as to be compatible with global standards. Join with us !
