COIMBATORE 26-4-2010 Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I am very happy to see the spontaneous response from the visitors gathered on 18th April 2010 during the Swayamwaram Programme in SNR College Auditorium Coimbatore.

Almost all the participants were highly educated and civilised and above all they had a keen affinity to help the less fortunate and less privileged brothers and sisters of our community. When I spoke in an informal speech about the poorest Gross Enrolment Ratio in higher education particularly in professional courses, they sympathised and volunteered themselves to identify the students at 12th Std level and wanted to help them.

Hardly one among 1000 boys and girls in our community alone goes to college and almost 95% of them are school dropouts and they find the menial jobs like painters, workshop boys, and many without jobs.Whe I spoke that we should help atleast one student and see that he is graduated, then atleast another five families nearby will try to educate their kids, the audience spontaneously joined to become a member of Patrons Scheme by donating Rs 5000/ and besides they assured that they will donate every year for a student. The highlight of the Patron scheme is that the donor will be introduced at the time of Indiravizha to be held next year to have mutual appraisal, the scheme envisages the display of the persons ie memory of parents or their beloved ones and this will be shown in the powerpoint during Indiravizha and also will be displayed in the website.

I therefore request the youth of our community to help atleast one student to become a graduate by joining in the Patrons Scheme by donating a minimum of Rs 5000/ or send your parents or friends to Mandram for furthur details. On the spot, more than 25 generous personalities joined in the scheme and spoke in a choled voices when they declared that they were donating in the memory of their parents. The counselling session for 10th and 12th stufents who have written their examns recently about 250 is to be held in NGR School, Naradharajapuram, Peelamedu Coimbatore on 2nd May Sunday 2010 forwhich the youth and experienced who want to tell something about career guidance are invited, particularly who are based in and around Coimbatore. You may come to the venue and introduce yourself to me and help them to go in right direction. If we cannot help them who else will do this orphaned community who were forced to become farm labourers in their own lands due to the ruthless Nayakas invasion of Tamilnadu during 14 th Century. The name Mallars were pronounced as Ballas ( slaves in Telungu) and later as pallars and the people who were betrayed were elevated as the friends of the rulers and new agararian landlords were created. The youth of our community should know who were we and how we were suppressed psychologically and phsysically and it is our primary duty that we should see that the entire children of our community should have higher education and that is the only solution to regain the glory that we lost for centuries. We need not earn properties and wealth and let the new born youth working in multinational companies and in Government offices and in private companies and who have the affordablity must rise to the occasion and unite under one banner where politics has no place at all. The educated youth and the experiened rich and creamy layers of the society should come together and take charge of their regions and help to eradicate school drop outs and get higher education. The Government schemes like Right to Education should be exploited to the best extent for our boys and girls.

Another historical step was rhe initiation signature campaign from the school and college boys and girls of our community and the parents and other socially conscious adults in the application requesting the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu to call us as Devendrakula Velalar instead of Dalits and Adi Dravidars. When he calls Sakkilars and Madharees as Arunthathiars, Pariars as Adi Dravidars, Saanars as Naadars, what prevents him from calling us as Devendrakula Velalars? It was sad and agonising to see in the newspapers that the CM called Ondiveeran as Arunthathiars whereas he called Veeran Sundaralingam as Adi Dravidar. When a time has come to call the people in their specific name how we alone should be called in generic names instead of spefific honorary name? The application says that in schools and colleges the students are being humiliated as Scs and Adi Dravidars by the teachers and management while filing scholarship forms. Most of the students do not like to get scholarship just because of revelation of caste and therby striking the roots of the heart to liquidate the confidence of the students. The poison and the weed are poured and sown in schools and colleges and therefore the students want that they should be called as Devendrakula Velalars instead of Pallars. This is not confined to them alone but to everybody of us.We need honour and dignity while we are being called by the Government rather than getting concession of few hundreds or few thousands. The application is being signed in all the 24 branches in and around Coimbatore and we expect about 10000 signatures and it will be presented to CM, Deouty CM and Hon'ble Union Minister Alagiri alongwith our college and school boys during the last week of May or first week of June 2010. If anybody is interested to sign in the application they may contact in 98940 61631 and also free to come to mandram office. Let all of us unite together toget a G.O. rechristening the pallars, kudambans, pannady etc as DEVENDRAKULA VELALRS and become a symbol of unity, civility, education and tolerance.

Dear brothers and sisters, I am yearning for the response in writing from the visitors of this website. The life does not complete with marriage alone and please have the social awareness and community affinity based upon to help the children of our brothers and sisters, as other advanced communities did and does. Please write to me and please give a moral boost even if you do not like to contribute financially.

Awaiting your reply and response.

KASIMYNDHAN
